Sunghei & Joe - Engagement

Sunghei tried to warn me, but I didn't listen. She said that her fiance, Youngwoo (Joe) was very shy and quiet. I've had some shy ones, but Joe wins so far. We started in a park in Clayton and got some good shots, but just wasn't really feeling like I was capturing the couple in their true element. After about 15 minutes, they say, "We're not really park people." So, we headed towards J.Buck's and got some really good shots along the way. They spend a lot of their time together in Clayton, trying new restaurants and strolling along the streets. Then we had a couple of drinks and some calamari at J.Buck's (I don't normally like calamari, but this was really good and I'll probably go back just to have some more). We all got to talk and get to know each other and learn more about their wedding as well (which is this Saturday!). Thanks, you two, for a great evening. I really enjoyed it.

Umbrella Day

So, it was raining today and I love the rain, but hate dripping wet kids and clothes. So, we went and got Emma and Clyde rain boots and umbrellas. Clyde wanted the owl rain boots, but had to settle for the froggy boots that were in his size. Of course, when we actually go outside with them, he wore his Lightning McQueen snow boots instead (can't you just hear the mommy sigh through the computer?) We went out while it was raining and played in the puddles (which they loved!), but also went out later once it stopped raining. They still wanted to use their new gear, so I was able to take a few pictures - of them walking away from me as usual:)

And here's why we went back inside (sans umbrellas). Poor Emma, she didn't even know what was coming her way.

Baby Brock's Photos

Here's some more from the newborn shoot. I'm working to get caught up on everything, but it just seems to keep piling up. I am no longer out-of-town this week, so if you need anything I should be here to answer your questions.

My favorite

So, I'm at a session last week for a newborn. And we go into the master bedroom to get some shots of baby brock in his adorable little bassinet. And Brock's mom finds her husband's ring on the floor next to their bed. Laura looks at me incredulously and says, "Can you believe this?" I said, "Well, let's do something with it then." So, this is what we did.

It's a good thing he left his ring behind. The other ring is Laura's birth gift for having Brock. Thanks Brock for the best newborn session - you couldn't have done any better as a toe model!!

I'll put up the slideshow as soon as I get it up to the website.

Ryan's Album

Sorry I've been missing in action. I've had a few things going on here and am trying to catch up before I go out of town next week. Here's the latest album design. It's for Ryan 1st birthday pictures that I shot a couple of weeks ago. I love the way it came out. I think the fun of the session really came out in the design.

Comments Welcome!!

I really don't know who reads this blog - I don't keep statistics of stuff like that. I know some people do because every once in a while, someone I rarely speak to will ask me about how my vacation was or talk about a shoot I know I didn't tell them about in-person. It always takes me a moment to stop thinking they're a psychic and remember the blog.

So, if you're reading this, leave a comment. Whether you're one of my clients, an old friend, a random visitor who's lost their way, my own mother, or another photographer that's lurking around, I welcome everyone and just want to know who you are. Click on the comments link right below any post to leave a message and/or comment.

Thank you!!

Baby Griffin & Sam the Dog

These are actually from a few weeks ago, but I never posted them, so here are Griffin's 6-month pictures. It's so easy to get good pictures of him because he's just always smiling!

Look at those big blue eyes!

And, of course, no photo shoot at this house would be complete with Sam: the-dog-who-doesn't-know-he's-a-dog in a few.***HERE'S THE SLIDESHOW***

Feeling Thankful

So, I'm sitting here tonight, working on photos and albums on my laptop, and suddenly I just felt so thankful for my life. Not quite sure why that hit me like that - maybe it's because I actually got 8 hours of sleep last night (a rarity in my life), maybe it's because I'm almost caught up on laundry (even more rare), maybe it's the chocolate ice cream that I'm savoring (unfortunately, not quite so rare) or maybe it's just because I have a good life. I don't live a fairy tale or anything like that. But I have 3 great kids who will constantly make me pull my hair out right before they make me laugh, a loving husband who may not understand my photography but has certainly been supportive about my passion and provides that touch of logic and steadiness I often need, wonderful friends who forgive me no matter how much of a slacker I am with keeping in touch, and a business that embodies me and my spirit through and through. While my life is nothing like I imagined it would be, I love it. Of course, don't ask me about this post tomorrow morning when all three kids and the dog are all screaming to be fed, taken to the bathroom, asking to get dressed, and freaking out because we haven't left the house by 9am.

And just so that I don't leave you hanging with nothing to look at, here is one of my favorites from awhile ago - yes, all natural-light, like always.

Moon, Moon Moon Shining Bright

After our portrait session yesterday, I saw the moon was out and shining pretty bright. So, I grabbed this quick picture so that I could hopefully get it printed for my own kids. They love that song - "Moon, Moon, Moon" by Laurie Berkner (if you don't have kids, you probably haven't heard of it).

Normally, all of the photos on my blog are copyrighted and not allowed to be downloaded, but if you're looking for a new desktop background, feel free to download this one with my permission:)
