Website Woes

I am in the process of trying to update my website and put up all the gallery-worthy images that I had the opportunity to take this year. So, if things look a little messy in the process - I apologize. It'll be all fixed in a few weeks:)

A Weekend Session Opening

I had another session that needed to be rescheduled, so I have an opening for EITHER Friday morning on October 26th or Sunday afternoon on October 28th. I will only be doing one of these, so once one of these is filled, they are both off the table. Until I hire someone to help with some of the post-production or client contact or any of the zillion other things I have to do, I can only take so many sessions per week or month.

Email me if you're looking for a session. They go quick so don't wait if you know you want to schedule.

Oh, and here's to my 100th post on this blog!!

**EDIT - This session is now taken. For November availability, see the below post.

Small Towns, Big Personalities

You Know You're at a Small Town Wedding if:
1. Everyone asks where you're from because they know you're not a local since they know ALL the locals.
2. Guests serve themselves behind the bar.
3. The bride's house, the church and the reception site are all within 3 blocks of each other.
4. Guests show up to the reception in golf carts because they all live "just down the street".
5. Everybody's somehow related to the bride & groom.
6. When they find out I'm from out-of-town, many guests ask if I need a place to sleep that night.
7. There's a tv setup for the photo montage that later gets turned to the football game (LOVED that).
8. You can't tell which kids belong to which adults because everyone's one big happy family.

Thanks to Natalie & Joel and all their family and friends as well as the town of New Madrid, MO for making the day so enjoyable. Here are a few photos from your wedding and the link to your slideshow.

Goin' to Houston

I just wanted to let everybody know that I am taking a trip to the Houston area to see one of my best friends from college, Katie, who just had a baby (yaaaay!). Although this is a personal trip, if anybody has friends or family in the area that would like a photo session, please let me know. I'll only be doing 2 or 3 at the most since I want to be able to spend time with Katie and her little girl:)

Katie and I met in San Diego while going to school (we were both engineering majors) and Katie now works for NASA at the Johnson Space Center as an aerospace engineer (so, yes, she actually is a rocket scientist - he, he:). Katie has got to be the most positive and kind people I've ever met and I am so excited that she is finally joining the ranks of motherhood because I know that she is going to be a fabulous one.

Here's a picture of Katie and I when I was pregnant with Nolan. I still can't believe that she now has a little girl of her own.

Elizabeth & Doug

These two held their ceremony and wedding reception at the St Louis Artists Guild which is a great location for a small wedding St Louis. Elizabeth had a gorgeous dress with fabulous details not to mention a beautiful engagement ring.

Elizabeth wasn't looking too bad herself:)

Sometimes, being beautiful isn't easy.

Doug and his close friends apparently waterski barefoot alot so they wanted to picture of them with their barefeet sticking out. Okay, so it's not as cute as little baby feet, but I guess you're never too old to show off your toesies.

Dinner with only 60 guests is a much more intimate setting than large receptions - it's like hanging out at someone's house for dinner. Very sweet and everybody seemed like they knew each other.

First Dance.

Elizabeth & Doug has some very entertaining friends who kept my job interesting:)
Doug's friend (one of the barefoot ones) was cracking me up the entire night.
I guess we were missing a guy on the first pictures, so we had to do it again.
He wanted to take my picture, but I suggested one with both of us. I don't like being on the other end of the camera unless it's with someone else.
Sparkler exit - yeah! They make for great wedding photos.
Happy Marriage to the two of you!

Another Great Newborn Session

I've had so many of these lately and each one just gets better. This family was just adorable.I'm going to start making this my signature shot with young babies. I just love how the light pours in from the window and creates ethereal feeling to the image.
How could anyone ever tire of the way parents and newborns look at each other like they've just found their soulmate?

Some tiny toes for the collection - he should be a toes model - he's the only newborn so far who has sat still for more than 1/2 second for me to get this shot.

I could not get enough of his funny looks. I know all newborns make funny faces, but his just seemed to really make me think he was going to get up on his little feet and rip my camera right out of my hands.

I was so glad when we were able to break through the big sis' shyness - she had the most gorgeous combination of freckles, complexion and eye color. Not to mention a cute smile:)

Some family time on the family bed.
Thanks to this family for a wonderful session. I'm so glad to have the chance to get to know you.

3 More 2007 Portrait Sessions available

Here are the dates that are currently available. After they're gone, you must either have a newborn, or send me a box of chocolates to schedule a portrait session (and I'm only half-joking about that second part - I prefer dark chocolate, no fruity stuff, but nuts are okay:).

Action Kiss

This is from my pneumonia wedding - I'm not sure how these photographs turned out so well - it must've been the fun connection between Liz & Vince that helped out:) I'm trying to edit this wedding and it's so hard because I have so many good series like this. I love couples who aren't nervous about kissing and smiling at each other - it makes my job as a wedding photographer soooo much easier when they are just into each other and I get to capture their in-to-each-otherness (I am pretty sure that's not a real word, but it's late and my college-educated vocabulary is escaping me.

Portrait Session availability

Just some FYI - OCTOBER IS BOOKED for portrait sessions. The only exceptions to this are engagement sessions for booked wedding clients and newborns.

NOVEMBER - there are now 5 sessions left.
**Edit - There is now only 3 left - see above post for availability.

DECEMBER - I am changing my policy this year and taking the entire month of December off from portrait sessions (except for newborns, of course) - no older infants, no engagements, no children, no families, no Christmas portraits.

JANUARY - booking available for everybody.

FERUARY - open for past clients only right now (will be available to new clients on November 1st).

Please don't wait to book your session as the availability seems to go fast and I hate telling people "no". I appreciate the response to my photography and am overwhelmed at the fact that sessions are going so quickly - THANK YOU!

Baby Wyatt's Portrait Session

For the last year, I've been fairly immune to the baby itch - I've been over my head in diapers and feedings and "mommy"s and "no-no"s and boo-boos and the dread "uh-oh"s, that the thought of adding another source of joy seemed like a one-way ticket to the looney bin for me. But now that Nolan's one and I'm not a baby mom for the first time in several years, I'm starting to sigh every time I have a newborn session. This one was no exception - Wyatt was awesome and so, so cute, which is not surprising given the source of his gene pool:) So, here is some of the latest from the crop of babies sprouting up in St Louis.

Congratulations to the 'H' family on their brand new addition!
