Got the Winter Blues?

Cheer yourself up with thoughts of spring .... and spring portraits! Last year, the spring sessions were sold out by the end of March. Based on the increased response so far, I would imagine that they would be gone earlier than that. If you're interested in a spring session, please don't hesitate to start thinking about it now. Weekday sessions are $150 while weekend sessions are $200. Both the session fee and a portrait agreement are due in order to reserve your session.

And just so that I don't leave you without any visual enjoyment - here are a couple of my favorites from our previous snow storm. No winter blues here:)

The True Measure of Enjoying Your Job

....is when you love it even when you don't get paid for it (in money anyhow). A couple of weeks ago, I get an email from a parent who wanted portraits done for their child, Little "E"...... he has a condition that has changed all of their lives and the family found me through the ACPCG organization (American Child Photographer Charity Guild).

What I gained from that session is better than what anyone could have paid me for it. I learned that my problems are not that big. I was reminded that my children's lives are not always in my hands. And I found that smiling (truly genuinely smiling out of joy) cures a lot of heartaches. So, meet "E" and his family - try not to get lost in his eyes because they really are that magical and truly are the only window to a gentle, playful soul. And then go hug your own kids. And if you don't have kids, go hug your parents because trust me when I say that when a child hurts, so do his parents, whether the child is 3 or 30.

See....I told you they were magical.

Do Mommy kisses ever get boring? No - never in a million years will a mommy kiss be anything but magical to a little kid.

I love to see families read together. I know I don't do it enough with my own kids, but I really do love to.

I guess no matter what condition a toddler is in, they will still get a mischevious look in their eyes when told to sit next to their sibling for a portrait. But if you read my blog often enough, you know I don't like it when kids behave toooooo much, so this is just my style.

Wedding Consultations

Apparently love is in the air..... well, not so much in my house (at least not the kind of love that's not expressed with peanut butter and jelly kisses:). All of you lovebirds seemed to have gotten engaged at the same time because I've had a flood of wedding inquiries in the past week that I'm trying to get caught up on. And since I know requests for wedding consultations are starting to pile up and with the busy holiday season being what it is - I'm going to set up a time that I can meet a lot of you at once without running all over town.

So, this Sunday, I am going to be holding consultations in Chesterfield at 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, and 7pm (I'll only hold an 8pm and/or a 3pm one if the rest are all full). It will be at a St Louis Bread Co. We'll have a complete hour to go over all the details of your wedding, chat over coffee, and discuss your wedding photography needs. Please email me for the exact location and to secure a time so that I can devote the entire hour to you and only you.

I can't wait to meet all of the future brides (and grooms - I know most of you only come along to make your future wife happy, which is an excellent habit to get into, but I love meeting you as well). I expect these time slots to go fast, so let me know as soon as possible.

Happy Holidays!

Karen
